Description
Canberra House is a family run business which was established in 1953 and remains a thriving Irish Pub with plenty of Guest Accommodation. Your hosts Catherine & Stephen O'Grady are always on hand to lend a hand. As well as English, Stephen also speaks good French and German. We offer a full bar service and all of our newly refurbished rooms are en-suite with both Shower and Bath and also include TV, Telephone, Coffee & Tea and Iron facilities. We also have private parking as well as a motorbike shelter.
Location
Canberra House is situated in the centre of Killorglin town, which is located on the world famous Ring of Kerry (Road N70). Killorglin is a busy market town positioned in the valley of the McGillicuddy Reeks and the Dingle Mountains within a short distance of Killarney, Tralee and Dingle. Killorglin is famous for holding Irelands Oldest Festival Puck Fair on 10-12th August each year, which attracts thousands of visitors from all over Ireland and abroad. Our local market on Thursdays and Fridays provides a myriad selection of local produce, while our local craft shops offer items such as Louis Mulcahy Pottery. There is a childrens playground & town park close by as well as a bureau de change, a launderette, a supermarket, churches, cash point, library and several great pubs and restaurants. We will be happy to organise taxi and bus tours for you. If you enjoy a few hours on the fairway, then why not pop down the road (1 mile) to Killorglin Golf Club or just 7 miles to Dooks Links Course. Rossbeigh Beach is 9 miles from Killorglin and Kells beach is a further 4 miles. You can also spend an afternoon in Cromane fishing village which is 5 miles from Killorglin. If the outdoors is your thing then a trip to Cappanalea Outdoor Centre (6 miles) at Caragh Lake or the Burkes Activity Centre in Rossbeigh are a must. Being in Killorglin we are surrounded in history; the Ogham Stones of the Gap of Dunloe are 8 miles east, and the Cahirciveen Ring Forts and access to Skellig Rock are 24 miles along the Ring of Kerry road. There is an abundance of fishing in the area both on the River Laune which runs through the town and on Caragh Lake.
